Blankies....sigh....

I've been intending to post for a while about this. When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with my blanket. I distinctly remember the day my mom decided I was "too old" for it.

Of course, from our childhood experiences, we make determinations on what we will and won't do as moms once we have kids. One thing I decided I wasn't going to do was put a limit on blankies. They could have them as long as they want.

Yes, my girls are in 2nd and 4th grade.
Yes, they are strong, independent young ladies.
Yes, they play with dirt, (last night made 4 mud pies) keep bugs as pets and watch shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs.
BUT.
They LOVE their blankies. And I would never ever take them away.
Every morning when I make their beds, I have to clandestinely hide them beside their pillows in case a friend comes over.

So, right before I finish putting them in their little hiding spots in the morning....I secretly bury my face in them and try to breathe some baby that might be left on them. I can't believe I'm admitting this to everyone but as you can tell, I am having trouble watching them grow older.

We were partial to Gymboree blankets. As you can see Chlobug's are REALLY worn out. They have already had some repairs.
Another true confession. When Lulabear was FIVE she lost hers at a hotel. We tried to retrieve it to no avail. So.......I marched right into Gymboree, picked up the sweetest replacement I could find, and lied to the cashier telling her I was buying it as a baby shower gift.....I hope these girls have these until they leave home, and then, maybe I'll sleep with them......
On this crisp fall day.....snuggle your babies tight and smell em' up.

How sweet! The garbage man took my blankie when I was at church one day. Until I found it years later hidden in my moms bottom drawer. Love your kids room! Super cute colors!

I too love your kids' room- the bunk bed reminds me of the BB my sister & I used to share forever ago :)
Myself, I had a teddy instead of a blankie that I had up until my divorce 8 years ago, but I remember my younger sibs having their carter fleece-like w/ the satin edges. They found and pulled them out of the garbage until they were like 12 or so.
I love looking at your babies' blankies though- it's so sweet. I know you'll have them for forever :)
